Turning a new Leaf

“Turning a new Leaf”

Ah yes, September is here. September is a month of endings and new beginnings.

The Summer is over. The girls had a great time this summer learning to swim and enjoying the warm days of summer. But as the seasons change so does our routine.

Schools are opening once again for the school year. Our oldest daughter, Emily,is now in the 1st grade. She likes her teacher this year (Mrs. McDonald) and is enjoying school. Our youngest daughter, Amanda, will start her second year of preschool this coming Monday. She’s looking forward to going to “her” school as she calls it . She loves playing and learning.

Days change with the seasons. There are beginnings and endings yet the circle of life is continous.
We recently experienced that more so than usual.
From Fall to Spring our girls go to dance classes at this local dance studio. The studio has a “community/family feeling” to it. Well the oldest daughter of the owner of the studio developed ovarian cancer 3 years ago at age 17. After a 3 yr. fight with cancer she passed away last Friday. The out pouring of love was monumental. We cried and comforted each other. This young woman touched, taught and inspired many through her love of Dancing.
I saw her first dancing on stage when my niece was first involved in this dance studio years ago. When she danced on stage she shined. Everyone around her could feel the love she expressed through her dance. She was an inspiration to watch. Through the ups and downs of life she showed others how to “dance” through it all.
I can’t imagine the pain the family has had and pray that they find peace. I can only imagine her dancing in heaven now.

The cycle of life is an amazing journey. We can do our best to take in each step of the way: Learning, Teaching and Inspiring each other.

I promised to show my progress in creating images from our trips to the zoo.

I created some first drawings from some of the photos I took on our trips to the local Zoos.

Feature Art/product

"Two Horses Playing " is one of my newest images. There's something special about watching horses out in the pasture playing together. Horses exhibit a power and free spirit.
This image is available on a travel mug, T-shirt and a wall clock at my café press store.
